Ingo Riedeberger: 2024 was truly a remarkable year for THE TIRE COLOGNE. We kicked things off with an electrifying start, welcoming key industry players like Pirelli, Continental, and Falken Tyre Europe. Pirelli’s immersive video experience captivated attendees, Continental underscored its dedication to sustainability, and Falken thrilled visitors with a racing simulator for an adrenaline-fueled experience. But what really stood out was how sustainability and innovation took center stage throughout the event, particularly at the Circular Economy Forum. With over 50 exhibitors showing their dedication to tire recycling and retreading, it really highlighted the industry’s commitment to responsible practices and a greener future.

Q2: Sustainability was indeed a key theme this year. Can you tell us more about the initiatives and discussions that focused on this important issue?

Ingo Riedeberger: Sustainability is at the heart of what we do, and 2024 was no different. It was also amazing that all major tire manufacturers made sustainability and producing tires in a sustainable way to a major subject at their booths The Circular Economy Forum was a major highlight. The Circular Economy Forum in Hall 7 was a beacon for eco-conscious initiatives, with over 50 exhibitors championing tire recycling and retreading. The Altreifen Resolution signing ceremony by the Alliance for the Future of Tires (AZuR-Netzwerk) marked a major commitment to responsible tire disposal and the promotion of sustainable practices.

Q3: Another key area of focus was the digital transformation in the industry. How did THE TIRE COLOGNE 2024 address this shift, and what role does technology play in the future of the tire industry?

Ingo Riedeberger: Hall 6 was buzzing with expert panels on groundbreaking topics: from the transformative impact of AI and digital tools in the tire trade to strategies for workforce retention and insights into international markets. Notably, the focus on the Scandinavian market and discussions on the circular economy pushed boundaries in knowledge-sharing. Visitors engaged with the latest diagnostic and repair technologies showcased by Hunter and Würth, highlighting the future of service portfolios, especially with the rise of e-mobility.

The event’s discussions didn’t just reflect current trends; they forecasted where the industry is heading. From new regulations like the TPMS mandate to advancements in digital transformation and recycling technologies, this year’s event emphasized readiness for the future. The spotlight on retreaded tires highlighted their growing market significance and environmental benefits, further cementing the industry’s commitment to a sustainable future.
