LINGLONG TIRE PRESENTS SUSTAINABLE CONCEPT TIRE AT WBCSD
From 27 to 30 April 2026, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), an organization led by corporate boards that deals exclusively with the topic of business and sustainable development, took place in Montreux (Switzerland). The WBCSD pursues a sustainability vision that coincides in many respects with Linglong Tire’s sustainability strategy: Linglong is committed to significantly reducing CO2 emissions by 2030 and achieving climate neutrality by 2050, i.e. already a decade ahead of the timetable set out in the Paris Agreement for Chinese companies – Linglong is thus pursuing the same goal internally as the WBCSD or the European Union.

Linglong is already reducing carbon emissions through efficient energy use, sustainable tire development and intelligent supply chain management. The goal is to reduce carbon emissions by more than 50% by 2035 to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 at the latest. The company is focusing on five core elements in particular: new materials, advanced technologies, modern processes, smart machines and sustainable and environmentally friendly energy, for example, a 35-megawatt solar system is being used at the new tire factory currently under construction in Brazil.
At WBCSD, Lingkun “Andy” Zhou, CEO at Linglong Tire, presented a concept tire made of 85% sustainable materials – by 2040, all Linglong tires are to be made of 100% sustainable materials. The use of bio-based feedstocks such as biotechnical (itaconate) rubber, rice husk ash or corn-based silica serve to replace traditional petroleum-based raw materials and thereby reduce carbon emissions by up to 35%. Linglong became the first Chinese tire manufacturer to join the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR) and is working with other members to improve sustainability in the natural rubber sector globally. Linglong supports FSC-certified natural rubber projects to support the livelihoods of rubber farmers, contribute to the preservation of forests and to protect the rights of workers, indigenous peoples and local communities. In the field of resource recycling, Linglong promotes the use of liquid waste rubber and pyrolysis carbon black to effectively use waste tires and ensure a closed resource cycle.
In his speech, Zhou emphasized that the dual-carbon roadmap is not only a commitment to environmental protection but also revolutionizes the entire production process. The company will do everything it can to achieve its environmental goals and provide consumers worldwide with environmentally friendly, sustainable and high-quality mobility solutions to leave a clean and livable planet for generations to come.
