SAILUN POLAR DRIVE – THE SMART PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE ON ICE

Sailun Polar Drive 2026, held in March, was designed as an immersive customer experience to introduce Sailun’s new Alpine Evo2, Arctic 2 and Ice Blazer Spike winter tyre range. Under extreme weather conditions and various driving scenarios, the tyres demonstrated their performance to trade and media representatives from Nordic countries.

The event took place in Munio, Finland, 200 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle, where icy, wet and snowy road conditions provided a suitable environment for testing. Over two weeks, around 120 participants including OE representatives, journalists, retail partners and customers tested the new winter tyres on challenging routes and a handling track on the frozen Jerisjoki river.

Temperatures ranging from -20°C to +5°C reflected typical Nordic winter conditions. Mixed road surfaces, including snow and wet asphalt, as well as dedicated ice tracks, enabled testing of acceleration, braking and handling performance. The event also highlighted Sailun’s focus on energy efficiency and reduced CO₂ emissions. Test vehicles included Audi A3, Audi A6 e-tron and Audi Q6 e-tron.

The program included workshops on tyre technology, the new product range and Sailun’s brand strategy, along with opportunities to engage with company representatives. Additional activities such as snowmobile tours, visits to husky and reindeer farms, and sauna sessions were also part of the experience.

At the same time, through numerous discussions, we took on board feedback from professionals who work with tyres on a daily basis and know first-hand what consumers want, in order to drive the continuous development of our tyres,” explains Harry Wang, General Manager of Sailun Group Europe. “Given our university origin it is our nature to never stop developing, never being satisfied, always looking for another 1% of improvement. But most importantly we had the chance to spend quality time with our partners and create some fantastic memories together”.

Ice Blazer Alpine Evo2 is positioned as a high-performance winter tyre, offering control on ice and snow, strong wet braking performance and a balance between durability and fuel efficiency.

Ice Blazer Arctic 2 is a studless winter tyre developed for Nordic conditions, maintaining flexibility at low temperatures and delivering strong grip on ice and wet surfaces. It carries the EU Ice Grip marking and is EV-ready.

Ice Blazer Spike is a studded winter tyre designed for extreme conditions, allowing up to 236 studs per tyre and providing high safety levels. It also performs effectively on snow even without studs and is certified with EU Ice Grip and EV-ready markings.

All three patterns are available in an extended size range to meet the evolving requirements of the European vehicle parc.
